GROUNDS INSPECTED.
ST. JOHN OFFICERS' VISIT.
The annual inspection of sports grounds ■by officers of the St. John Ambulance Brigade took place on Saturday, when six parties of officers inspected 29 grounds. Those taking part were Mr. C. J. Tmnks, Commissioner for the district; Mr. F. J. Hutchinson, assistant Commissioner; Mrs. G. S. Caimimell, lady district officer; and officers of the district and corps staff. Mr. Tunks inspected the hodkey grounds at Remuera, the recreation ground, Ellerslie, and Eden Park. At Ellerslie an interesting function took place, a special football match (Mount Albert seniors versus Papakura seniors), being played to raise funds for the completion of a casualty room on the grounds.
The Ellerslie ambulance and nursing divisions marched through the township to the grounds where they were joined by the players. The parade was led by the Railway Workshops Band. The officers present were Mr. Tunks. Commissioner; District Officer C. W. Gooder-ham; and Corps Officers W. R. Dawson and F. Davidson. The Mayor of Ellerslie, Mr. H. White, and the member for the district, Mr. A. G. Osborne, M.P., were aleo present. ,
