PETROL PRICES.
N.Z. SYSTEM CRITICISED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WAXGAXUI, Friday. Addressing a meeting of carriers today at Kaetihi on the question of petrol conservation, Mr. P. Skoglund, Xo. 2 Transport Licensing Authority, referred to the present system of differential •prices for petrol and the method of distribution. He gave it as his opinion that there was no more inefficient system anywhere else in the world. Mr. Skoglund advocated a uniform price for petrol throughout Xew Zealand and the formation of a pool by the oil companies. The formation of a pool would result in cheaper distribution costs and a big saving in petrol. He quoted cases showing what he i termed a wicked waste of petrol as a result of the present method of diminution.
