ACTION ASKED FOR
GOVERNMENT REQUEST. MTJNICIPAI. PIG FARM. _ As tlie outcome.of a communication received from the Government this morning, . the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, is taking action in connection with a proposal to develop a municipal pig farm to assist in the export of pork. . Sir Ernest soid he was calling on citizens who understood the details of such a scheme to give their opinion and assistance. He could pass no opinion at tlie moment, as the scheme involved and required very careful .consideration. Be felt in duty bound to see that the whole question was thoroughly explored, and it would be brought before the local authorities at the earliest possible dute. If the scheme would hold water, ho felt that it might result in the larger local authorities in jfew Zealand taking action in the national interest, as the only objective worth while.
Sir Ernest said lie had already called into conference certain citizens acquainted with, the industry.
