COUNTRY. WEEK HOCKEY, FRANKLIN VICTORIOUS 4—3. WHAXGAEEI AND WAIPA IN LEAD WITH 1930 CHAMPION, Two rounds were played yesterday at Ilobson Park, Kemucra, in tho Auckland Hockey Association's country week tournament for the White Horse Cup, held by Piako. Despite slippery grounds and showery weather there were some fine displays. The first surprise o£ the meeting was the defeat of Kodney A, runner-up in 1039, by Fra-.lklin, who had played a two-goal draw with Whangarei A in the morning. The points at the end o£ Tuesday's programme were:—Whangarei A 5, Piako 5, Waipa 5, Franklin 4, Kodney A 3, Kodney li 2. Whangarei B 0, Thames 0. The fourth round was scheduled for this afternoon* and two rounds will bo decided again on .Thursday. ltesults of third round engagements yesterday afternoon :— Franklin 4 (Bell 3, McGovan), beat Rodney A 3 (N. Spiers 2, L. White, I!. Burns), beat Whangarei B 3 (Graham 2, Johnson).
