DEMAND IN LONDON. PEOPLE XOT EATING BUTTER. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDOX, June 23. A few caeee of New Zealand and Tasroirnian apples reached the spectacular price of *2d/, and prices generally were «bove 19/. This is considerably above those ruling in the previous few weeks, when, according to New Zealand circles, cargoes were being diepoeed of at a lose. traders eay that there is no quantity at present available which- cau benefit by fne new high prices. These prices, in addition, are slowing up the demand. The butter position in the United Kingdom is little Changed, but the public » not absorbing the ration of four ounces allowed per head. The Rubber Trade Association has had several emergency meetings, and has deC i ij aC for the P re scnt the market enould remain open. The question of fixinc maximum and minimum prices wae under diecuasion, but nothing wae decided.
