PARENTS EAGER.
REGISTRATIONS IN LONDON. LIMITED NUMBER ONLY. LONDON, June 20. Thousands of parents besieged, the Children's Overseas Reception Board's office seeking to register children for evacuation to the Dominions. The Under-Secretary for the Dominions, Mr. Geoffrey Shakespeare, who is chairman of the board, said that prefer-' ence would be given to children of "wise parents" who had already evacuated their children in accordance with the Government scheme. There was every indication that the response from the United States would be remarkable. In addition to other Dominions, Southern Rhodesia had promised to take children. No scheme has yet been finally fixed for the evacuation of British children to the Dominions, and other overseas countries, and it is unlikely that the first movement of children could be started before two or three weeks have passed, says a British official tireless message. Mr. Shakespeare stated that any idea of ma«s migration is absolutely contrary ■to the wishes of any of the Governments concerned. A safe refuge, is intended for a limited numlber of children on a wellordered plan. The major Government policy is still to send children from evacuation areas s to reception areas iu Britain itself.
