ACCENTS ON ACCENT!
LET us consider to-day the possibilities of lifting the personality out of the commonplace. You know those little inverted "V's" that are placed over certain rotes in piano music, don't you? That little "V' means accent, or special stress on that particular note. Well, our key word to-day is just that, accent, and with the same interpretations; to take certain notes in the harmony of our personality and accent them; bring them out bo that they are a noticeable and an outstanding part of ourselves. Take your little talent, or even your little handicap, and polish it up until it shines strongly, identifying you; a sort of signature song of the ego. Next in line is the speaking voice as an important factor in bringing out | personality. Whatever the quality or
style of your voice, there is one point that must be stressed—distinctness. Xo matter what your message- to the world, it will amount to nothing if your voice, the instrument through which you communicate with your public, is not trained to speak clearly and distinctly, whatever you have to say. Which brings us to the third angle. If your opinions differ from most of those whom you contact don't be afraid to give them expression. v Don't be a "yes" woman for the sake of conforming to the majority. We all have a right to form opinions of our own and the more colourful our ideas the more attention they will command, for colouris the other ingredient that makes a personality stand out from its fellows— accent and colour, the two qualities that lift a personality up from the dead level, and away from the commonplace. i
