ARRIVED TOO LATE.
There were many unrehearsed inci dents and last-minute farewells the nigh before the transports with the Secom Echelon left Xew Zealand, reports i Press Association correspondent. One gir flew from Blenheim to find that her fiano had already embarked and was in tear: outside the barrier when an officer noticing her aistress, undertook t< deliver the parcel she had brought. NOl only that, hut he arranged for the luckj soldier to appear on deck and the couph were able to wave if not speak their owr farewell. Another girl who arrived witl a parcel when the ships were already ir the stream was transported from despah ito delight when she succeeded in having her parcel taken off in the last launch which went off to the transports.
