MATAMATA CANDIDATES. J. W. CATHRO'S REPRESENTATIVES. J. W. Catliro intends taking Flying Acre, Full of Scotch and Kaspian, ami R; 11. Martin King Rey, Silver Cloud and Allmetifc to Waipa meeting. Others to go will be Ei'liek and Town Section. Flying Acre was kicked at exercise a rew days ago and suffered an abrasion to the near forearm, but appears to have taken no harm from it. With the easing of the tracks Catliro has been alile to give some work Into Pull of Scotch and as he races well fresh lie is not without prospects. Allmctic, who suffered an injury some weeks ago, appears lo nave fully recovered. Althougn lie lias run Into places Martin's horse has yet to hreak his maiden status. Hutuwni, who was due to make his debut over hurdles on Saturday, will not now be a starter. When exercising on Tuesday morning the son of Balboa slipped when schooling and crashed Into the course rail. Part of the rail penetrated a shoulder and ho also suffered extensive bruises. He will be taken to his part-owner's farm. Constant Star, who has been trained at Tnknnlnl. has been returned to his owner, Mr. W. H. Barton, at Matamata. At present there are doubts, as to whether this horse will be put Into training again. Mr. Barton, who raced Huge with success, has given J. W. Catliro a nice-looking imported colt hv Spearhead to train. He .has been handled and given slow work by his owner and should not take long to come to band. F. Davis, who recently took over the pronertv formerly occupied by A. McGregor, is having an easy time just now. He has only Coronation doing slow work. The other members of his team Cheddlngton, Norton and Peru, who were recently gelded, arc expected to resume work very shortly. Davis has a nice team and an Ideal property so that thero Is every prospect of a successful new season. It J. Matcer lias had to turn Charcot out,'as he failed to stand another preparation.
