"NOT PROSCRIBED."
SERVICE MOVEMENT.
STATEMENT BY CHAIRMAN. The National Service Movement has not been proscribed. This statement was made to-day by the chairman, Mr. B. H. Kingston. He said the work of the movement was proceeding as previously, and the enrolment of members was going on. There was no restriction on the use of the organisation's badge, as some people seemed to think, Mr. Kingston continued, and last Monday's meeting was only postponed at the request of the Prime Minister. The organisation had not been restrained from holding further meetings. To guarantee that they would be as harmonious as hitherto, and that no civil discord would result therefrom, admission would be by membership card. The Prime Minister stated that he had no objection to our organisation continuing with its very laudable object of national unity, embodying the formation of a truly representative non-party War Cabinet and the conscription of man power and wealth. The committee had accordingly approved of an amended constitution, which would be submitted to the general body of members at an early date. The Attorney-General had been advised accordingly.
