REFUGEE CHILDREN.

AUCKLAND APPLICATIONS. | ; Offers to provide homes for nearly 1100 refugee children from the war zones have been made in Auckland. The applications were, considered yesterday by a special committee, representative of the churches, which has been set up and at the conclusion the chairman, the Hev. P. Cope.land,' stated that a comprehensive report in the form of suggestions to the Government hart been framed. It was decided that if further action was proposed by the. Government the committee would offer its services and co-operate to make the scheme a success. Several members of the committee are connected with Auckland orphanages, and are aware of difficulties which might have U>- b*_ i*et to carry out the scheme.
