ABANDONED.

N.Z. BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS. (By Telegraph.—Prese Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The New Zealand boxing championships, which were to have been held in Auckland in August, have been abandoned owing to the war situation. ' This decision was made at last night's meeting of the New Zetland Boxing Council. Members felt that in the present circumstances, it was inadvisable to proceed with the tournament. The view was also expressed that the winning of titles In. the absence of boxers serving with the Forces would not carry the I'sual importance. The council accepted the generous- offer of the secretary, Mr. G. P. Aldridge, to have his salary reduced by £50.
