Dictators To Meet
AT VERSAILLES? Duce Leaves Rome To Talk With Hitler NO EASY TERMS (United Tress Association.—Copyright.—Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, June I 7. The German High Command announced that Hitler will now see Mussolini to discuss the attitude to be adopted by them toward France. A Berlin news agency says Mussolini and Count Ciano left Rome at 8.30 p.m. for a meeting with Hitler. The Associated Press of Great Britain correspondent in Berlin says foreign correspondents left for Paris to-night, lending colour to the belief that Hitler and Mussolini will confer at Versailles. Later Berlin reports say Hitler will meet Mussolini to discuss their attitude toward Marshal Petain's statement. Authorised sources told neutral correspondents that "no separate armistice with France is imaginable except on terms of complete capitulation." The German radio says an announcement from Hitler's headquarters of great political and strategic importance will shortly be broadcast. The Germans have not yet replied to Marshal Petain's request for a cessation of hostilities.
