WAR AND PARTY.

The average citizen to-day is thinking and saying "My country 'tis of thee." | Unfortunately the Government cannot rise to such heights; their limit is party first, take all powers this crisis affords, but do not give the 45 per cent of the electors who voted against them at the last election any say or responsibility in the disposal of the national assets. Are we still to be ruled by a marionette Government? Surely members of the House can forget party for the common good and by example unite the nation? CHAS. E. BROOKE.
