DEMAND FOR WHEAT STEADY. • The following is the official weekly report of the Auckland Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants' Association:— ..Maize.—A shipment of South' African njfiize is due to arrive shortly, and this is now on offer at 8/3 per bushel, for a minimum 10-eack order, cash before dispatch, for delivery straight from ship's side. Store stocks at present are low and price from merchants' store* remains steady at from 8/11 to 9/ per bushel. Wheat: The demand for wheat is steady, immediate orders being supplied ex store stocks at the unaltered price of 7/3 to 7/4 per bushel. No further advice hae been received -ae to the arrival of the next shipment from Australia. Chaff: An increased! demand for chaff is noticeable and the_ southern price continues to advance, indicating a shortage of supplies. The price is firm and unaltered at from £12 10/ to £13 5/ per ton. Feed Oats.—Graded lines are in short supply and commanding a high figures with the price'through/ merchants' stores from 5/9 to 0/1 per bushel. Barley: The recent shipment has been cleared up and the unsold portion taken into Government store. It is now beinc? offered for delivery between July 3 and 10 at 4/6% per bushel iqr a minimum. 10-eack order, cash before dispatch. A further shipment of Australian barley in due about the end of July and this is being eold in 10-sack minimum .orders, cash before dkpatch, at 4/5 per bushel, delivery straight from ship's aide. The quality of the barley now on offer ex Government store is No. 3 standard.. It is higher than the quality dealt in recently, and the quality coming forward at the end of July will be No. 2 standard, which is again a higher quality than No. 3. Price for supplies through merchants' stores »:—Undipped, 4/6 to 4/7; clipped. 4/11 to B/1.. Australian. Bran and Pollard.—The position remain* unaltered. Merchants' stocks are.low and restricted quantities only are being supplied in fulfilment of orders. The market in Australia is particularly firm" with onTy limited offerings and immediate relief in supplies is not yet in. sight.
