Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., left for Wellington by the Limited express last night. Messrs. W. T. Anderton and A. G. Osborne, M.P.'s, will travel to Wellington by the Limited express to-night. Mr. Justice Fair will leave Auckland to-morrow afternoon to attend a session of the Court of Appeal in Wellington. Mr. A. W. Bowman, well-known Hawke's Bay and Xey Zealand Rugby football representative, has joined the lighting forces. Captain H. William*, well-known Suva pilot and business man, passed through Auckland to-day on his way homo after spending a Month's holiday in Australia. The Hon. M. Fagan, Speaker of the Legislative Council, who lias returned to his home after several weeks in hospital, expects to resume his official duties next month. Mr. R. J. Cunningham and Mr. J. M. Muir, of the Atlantic Union Oil Company, who have enlisted with the fighting forces, were the recipients of presentations recently from Mr. H. O. Wiles, manager, on behalf of the staff. The Hon. W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, has partially resumed his official duties after several weeks' absence through ill-health. The Hon. F. Lansfstone. however, who has been acting for him. will continue to administer the portfolio for another week or more. Captain Harold Boyaek has been successful in passing the extra-masters' examination at the recent examinations held in Wellington. Hi* is the first success to be recorded in New Zealand for ten years, and the first success under the new examinations for this certificate. Dr. J. L. Dimond, a Xew Zealander who is a graduate of Otago University, and who, since the beginning of the war, has been eye, nose-and throat specialist at the military hospital at Richmond. Yorkshire, has now been given the rank of major and has b?en appointed ear. nose and throat specialist for the whole of the Northern Command. His wife was formerly Miss Nancy Asliil, of Dun edin, who is also a graduate of Otago University. During the last 12 month.. he has been carrying out research work under the Ministry of Health in connection with gas cases. ,
