WRECKED.
THE MATAKANA.
IN WEST INDIES.
AMERICAN PRESS REPORT.
WHOLE CREW SAVED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A Xew York Press message states that the Shaw Savill steamer Matakana, SO4B tons, struck the Planas Cays, cast of the Atiklins Island, Bahamas, some days ago. The American steamer Panama picked up the entire crew of 82 from open boats eleven hours later. The Matakana left Napier some weeks ago on a homeward voyage, after loading there and Port Lyttelton, Wellington and other porte.
The ship "was commanded by Captain Evan Davies. She wee carrying- the ueual refrigerated cargo and is said to have been a full ship.
