SOLDIERS' FUND.
COMBINED SPORTS DAY MAY 25.
At last night's meetins of the Soccer Control Board, Mr. L. Munro (chairman) stated that, following a conference with, the other winter sports, it had been agreed that, instead of individual effort, as the association had contemplated with its gala day on May ~2~>, a combined sports day would provide better returns for the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund. On that date the Uugcby Union and the Hockey Association will stage jiames at Eden Park, while at Cnrlaw Park Kugby League and Soccer will be played, tickets to be printed so ihat they would be available for either ground. This decision was approved by the board. The secretary. Mr. W. Harrison, reported that entries for the Chatham Cup competition, which close at Wellington next Wednesday, had been received I'rum Abels and Metrn.-College. The North Shore and Kastern Suburbs clul*; intimated that they did not intend to compete. Clearances were received from the Poverty Bay Association for W. Hall and J. Wilson, who will play for Ponsonby. The Hawke's Bay Association advised that the clearance of K. Yniinnn was in order, and he also is to play for Ponsonby.
