SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTE. PARTIES MAKE 2CO APPROACH. A settlement of the tramways deadlock seemed no nearer to-day, as it was learned that there had been no negotiations in this direction by either representatives of the employees or the Transport Board. Furthermore, it was ascertained tliat the Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb, had so far not intervened officially in the dispute. Questioned this morning, the chairman of the Transport Board, Mr. W. H. Xagle, said that no approach had been made to the board by the union in connection with the dispute. Every possible step was being taken for application being made to the Arbitration Court for an interpretation of the clause in the board's agreement with the men, and on which the'nien were basing their claim for an 8 per cent increase in wages. Asked if the members of the board would be called together for a special meeting to discuss fhe dispute, Mr. Nagle replied in the negative, pointing out that the board would meet in the cjij-Niiuhi'v way r l M-iiiiay.
