DIED FROM EXPOSURE.

RETIRED ENGINEER. (From Our Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Tho death has occurred of Mr. Charles R. Vickerman, aged 84. who was for a number of years superintending engineer of the Public Works Department- He was the third son of the late Dr. F. L. Vickerman. a Nelson pioneer. He joined the Department in 1572. and was later transferred to the Auckland district, where he served for manv years as district engineer. In this capacitv he was responsible for extensive railway construction, including long sections of Ihe North Auckland ra?lwa\\ Frankon-Thames and Rotorua lines and the northern end of the Main Trunk from Te Kuiti to near Horopito. When out walking last Friday Mr. Vickerman apparently lost his way. Search parties were sent out. but flO trace was found of him until Sunday afternoon, when his l.ody was discovered a, Ohiro Bay. He had died of exhauauoa and exposure. ~ ~~ ~ A
