CARAVAN TRAILERS.
SUGGESTED SPEED LIMIT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The caravan trailer is increasing in popularity, states the report to be presented by the Transport Department to the Road Safety Council. New regulations regarding trailers are proposed by the Department with a view to pre- ; venting traffic accidents. j It is considered that trailers should i be limited to a speed of 3.3 miles an hour, that tli.'ir maximum dimensions should be a ' width of tift fill and a length of 20ft, and that warrants of fitness should be required every six months. It is the opinion of the Department that no additional braking equipment is needed on trailers, provided the brakes of the hauling unit I are efficient enough to ensure a satisfactory stopping distance.
