Oil, of Northcote, left by train yesterday to spend a holiday in Wellington. • • • * •• Mrs. Roland Ellis, of Wellington, arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning, and will stay for a few days with Mrs. William Staveley, of Arney Road, Remuera. • • • • A New Zealand woman missionary, Miss B. Tobin, who spent 45 days in the hands of Chinese bandits, and was ransomed for £500, has arrived in Sydney from China, en route to New Zealand. She has been 12 years with the Church of England Zenana Mission Society in China, working in Chinese schools.

Dominion president of the Women"* Division of the Farmers' Union, is at present in Wellington. She is accompanied by Mrs. R. K. Judson, Auckland. • • • • Miss Vera Kirkcaldy, of Whangaparaoa, has left by car to visit the Centennial Exhibition. While in Wellington she will be the guest of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Leslie Kirkcaldy, of Eastbourne.
