RED CROSS ACTIVITIES
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. Good progress with all activities is reported by the Rotorua-Taupo centre of the Red Cross in its first annual report. The membership was 287 and the centre had accumulated a substantial credit balance. V.A.D. classes had been commenced and girls participating had passed very creditably in first-aid examination and were now taking the home nursing course. A depot had been established in town and had been well supported, while sewing and knitting committees had -eturned a number of garments for use by the soldiers on active service and in hospital. Negotiations were at present being carried out at Taupo, Ngakuru, Ngongotaha, Mamaku and Tokaanu, with the objective of starting suib-centres there.
The following officers of the centre will be elected unopposed, only sufficient nominations "being received to fill vacancies:—Committee, Meedames A. French, G. Edwards. E. la Trobe Hill, D. Runciinan, C. S. Dalgliesh and E. Butt; Misses J. Pearce and G. I>illon: Messrs. C. A. McKinney. -T. Harvey. >T. Banks and A. G. Holland: vice-presidents, Mesdames S. H. Hay and E. R. Robertson, and Sister Mitchell: secretary. Mr. J. S. D. Rirkby; assistant secretary. Miss M. Pedlar; treasurer, Mr. H. Dansey; organiser. Mr. F? K. McNatty.'
The only position for which an election will be necessary is that of president ' v for which two nominations have •been received. N
