PARTY'S CHOICE.
LABOUR CANDIDATE. AUCKLAND WEST SEAT. ANNOUNCEMENT WEDNESDAY. The New Zealand Labour party's candidate for the Auckland West byelection, to fill the vacancy caused in Parliament by the death of the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, will be announced at a meeting in All Saints' Church Hall, Ponsonby, on Wednesday night next. The meeting will be open to all members of branches of the party and of affiliated unions resident in the Auckland West electorate, and the announcement as to the party's choice of a candidate will be made by the Hon. David Wilson, Leader of the Legislative Council, who will make a visit to Auckland for the purpose. Also in attendance will be Mr. M. Moohan, secretary of the New Zealand Labour party, who will accompany Mr. Wilson. The nominees for the position of candidate, Messrs. T. P. Met read v. J. J. Sullivan. J. S. Stewart. II Stalev, C. Bailey. ,1. T. Jennings. .1. ' Sayegh, P. fan, and Mesdames W. Moore and M. M. Dreaver, are expected to be in attendance at the meeting and will occupv positions on the platform. The writ providing for an election in Auckland West has not yet been issued, and the National party has not yet made a decision with'respect to its attitude in connection with the filling of the vacancy. It is assumed, ever, that it will present a candidate in due course, particularly as the Communist party is determined to force a by-election, and has alreadv announced its official candidate.
