MRS. HARRIETT TOWWLEY.

MARRIED 72 YEARS AGO.

The death occurred i-day at her residence Liuon St., Poneonbv, of Mrs Harriett Townley in her 94th'year. Mrs. Townley was the wid(m of Joseph Townley, who died in June 1030. Arriving ,„ New Zealand about 1858 iu the ship Matilda Wattenbach, Mrs Jownley, who was then Mke Harriett ii£e u Wae married at Wanganui in 1868 by the Rev. John Elmeley? Coming to Auckland, Mr. and Mrs. Townlev eet up residence in the house in Union St where Mre. Townley lived until her death, a period of over 60 yeare. The diamond anniversary of their weddin? was celebrated in 192fr in Auckland. Townley is survived l>y three children.

MRS. EUZA BATES.

The death line occurred at the age of 80 of Mrs. Eliza Bayes, widow of the « te Mr - Joee l* Ba.ves. of Takapuna. Horn at Clielvcston, England. Mre. Bavcs came to New Zealand with her husband in 1883. After living in Eden Terrace, and Red Beach, Mr. and Mrs. Bayee moved to Eversleigh Road, Takapuna where Mrs. Bayes resided until her death. Mrs. Bayes was a foundation member of the Mount Eden Baptist Church and also of the Milford Baptist Church, and was, with her husband, always keenly interested in church activities. Mr. Bayes died at the a«*e of 83 in 1925. e

MR. C. J. CRAWFORD.

The death occurred on March 19, at Wayside, St. Andrews, Scotland, of Mr Charles John Crawford, formerly of New Zealand. Born in 1866, Mr. (Crawford was the- third son of Captain James Coutte Crawford, R.N. (retired), who was one of the first settlers in 3Jew Zealand and owned property adjoining the city of Wellington. Mr. Crawford; who left New Zealand permanently in 1910, was well-known in sporting circles m the Dominion, as well as becoming a prominent figure in public affaire. He is survived by his wife, two sons and five daughters.

REV. THOMAS FEE.

The deatli has occurred in Christchureh of the Rev. Thomas Fee, at the of 89 years. Mr. Fee entered the Methodist minietrv in 187«. and became one if Uβ best known ministers in the Dominion. He was noted especially for his rigorous work for ■prohibition. Mr. Fee was president of the Australasian Methodist conference in 1909 and was the last Mir riving tnem•ber of the first Methodist conference held in Dunedin in 1880.

Coming to New Zealand in 1873 from Dnmigooland County Down, Ireland, Mr. Pee entered Wesley College, Auckland, after a short spell of teaching at St. Albane School, Ohrfetehurch. He supplied at Neleon in the following year, and, on hie ordination, was called to the Waimate circuit. In 1913 he retired on the advice of doctors, but for the last three years hae supplied for other ministers in Christchurch and helped in other causes.

MB. DANIEL McIHTYBE.

The death has occured in Auckland of Mr. Daniel Mclntyre, a returned soldier, at the age of 83. Coming to Xew Zealand with bus parents in the sailing ship Viola, in 1801. Mr. Mclntyre later became a blacksmith, following hi* occupation in several East Coast towns. He enlisted in 1915, at the age of 58. and ■wiling with the 11th reinforcements, saw active service in France. Hβ irae married in London during the war, but hie wife predeceased him some year* ago. He ie survived by two brothers.
