WEEK'S WORK

Plant Narcissi of all kinds; also Iris, Ixias, Babianas, Lachenalias, Freesias, Anemones, Ranunculi. Put cuttings of Pansies and Violas into sandy soil in a shady place. Keep moist and shaded till rooted. Plant Border Carnations. These need a well-drained open position. Good turfy loam with rotten cow manure placed about nine inches down will suit them. Primula Sinensis should be potted on. The early sown batch will soon be blooming. Give plenty of ventilation. Cyclamen should be potted on as they need it. Plenty of water and cool conditions are necessary. THE VEGETABLE GARDEN Gather any bunches of green Tomatoes and hang in a warm dry room. Earth up Celery and Leeks. Both these crops will benefit from the use of liquid manure. Gather Beans as soon as ready; do not let them hang to get stringy. Choose a dry day for harvesting the Pumpkins and Marrows.
