To Study Occult

A STUDENTSHIP for the study of psychical research has been established by Trinity College, Cambridge, out of a bequest left to the college for that purpose by Mr. F. D. Perrott as a memorial to the late Mr. F. W. H. My ers, who was a pioneer many years ago in,the study of the occult. This is probably the only studentship of its kind in any university and i.« a definite landmark in the serious study of a subject about which very little is known, and which, a few years ago, would have been considered quite out of the question at a British university. For the purpose of this studentship psychical research is defined ae "the investigation of mental or physical phenomena which seem prima facie to BU ggest ( a ) the existence of supernormal powers of cognition or action in human beings in their present life, or (b) the persistence of the human mind after bodily death." Men and women students of over twenty-one years of age are eligible and will be required to devote a substantial part of the period of tenure to investigiting some problem in psychical research. The first election will be made in May and the elected candidate will begin research under the scheme next October.
