The chairman of the Broken Ilill Proprietary announced that the company will build ships, including some types of naval vessels, 111 South Australia. Largo shipbuilding raids are being constructed at Whyalla. It i> proposed to bring key men from overseas to supervise the building.

The German-controlled Oslo radio admitted that soiuc Norwegian civilians had been tried and executed for alleged sabotage. The announcer added that everyone caught committing sabotage against German troops would be shot without mercy. An example of the terrorist methods which Germany employs against nationals of countries "taken under her protection,'' says a British official wireless message, is afforded by the Oslo radio announcement that the German Command lias issued a warning that any person caught firing against German forces will l>e treated as n franctireur and shot—despite the fact that Norway is at war with Germany. The broadcast added that some persons have already been shot.

£1,500,000 DAMAGE. Floods Cause Havoc In Queensland. CANE CROPS RUINED. *! ' (Received 2.30 p.m.> BRISBANE, this day. Flood damage in the Ayr district is estimated at £1,500,000. Many farms have been totally destroyed, crops have been ruined, buildings have been damaged or demolished, and tractors, irrigation works, live stock and machinery have been swept away. Some paddocks in the Homehill area recently planted for the 1041 cane harvest, are now lagoons. It will be years before some farms harvest again.

FREIGHTER HITS REEF. DECLARED TOTAL LOSS. (Received 2.30 p.m.) v HOBART, tliis day. The Melbourne freighter Wannon (5G7 tons) struck a reef in Ulverstone Harbour last night. She is now stranded 011 the sand bar, completely blocking the cntrancc to the River Lcven, and three-parts submerged. The vessel has been declared a total loss and abandoned to the underwriters.

TASMAN AIR SERVICE. EARLY START EXPECTED. MELBOURNE, April 12. The Minister for Air, Mr. J. V. Fairbairn, said an agreement had been reached on details relating to the operation of the Tasman air service. He hoped the service would begin next week. "Before agreement is arrived at outstanding details have to be cleared up." said the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, when the cablegram was referred to him over loug-distance telephone this morning. '"Discussions have taken place during the last few days whh Mr. A. E. Rudder, representing British Overseas Airways, and Mr. W. Hudson Fysh. managing-director of Qantas Empire Airways, but finality has not been completely reached ;et," he added. -
