In seeking Xomination for the position of President of the Auckland Branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association. I am moved to do so by the fact that 1 consider this Branch should actively get behind the Government and assist It in every possible way in its war effort. . I am fully conscious of the necessity of protecting the interests of tin* returned men in regards to pension* and other matters affecting them, and would, if elected, give these mattets my earnest attention and strongest support. However. I feel that our first objective is to help to win this war, as, if we lose it. I feel iliat matters of pen- ions, etc., will be very serious!v affected. I am most anxious that the lads at the front should feel that all i-\-scrvicemen are behind them in their efforts, and tlint we arc all doing our utmost to see that their reinforcements arrive in good heart and in good time.
