AKANORAS EFFORT.
CLINCH GOES WELL
GALLOPS AT ELLERSUE.
No. 2 grass, the tan and the sand tracks were in use at Ellerslie this morning when several candidates ior the W<hangarei meeting were galloped. Akanora, over four, Clindh over live, Lady Acushla and Bronze Emerald over six furlongs and Rarotonga over a round were among t'aose to please. No. 2 Grass. Bronze Fire (Fearn) ran half a mile in 52 2-ss, doing it nicely. British Mint (Pell) covered three furlongs in 40s, while Beeswing (Kerr) traversed five furlongs in 1.5 3-5, going well throughout. Sigurd (Fearn) completed a round in 1.51 3-5, the last half mile in 54 l-ss. He is to make his debut over hurdles at Whangarei. Lady Acushla (Markwick) and Bronze Emerald (Messervy) got to the end of six fur'longs in 1.16 2-5, both going well. Kelly (Gilchrist) was responsible for a good half mile recording 50 2-ss. Ballivor traversed five furlongs in 1.5 3-5, Clansman (Walker) completing half a mile in 52 3-ss. Acre's Beauty ran three furlongs in 39 4-ss. while Akanora (Fearn) was responsible for the best half mile, taking 495. She should go well at W'hangarei. Rarotonga (Thomson), after schooling, finished two lengths clear of Rajanya (Ry«.n) at the end of a round in 1.48 4-5, the last half mile taking 575. Rarotonga was doing it comfortably at the end. Coronation (Ryan) and Clinch (Messervy) covered five furlongs in 1.3 2-5, the last half mile in 50s. Coronation led early, .but Clincih finished attractively to be in front at the end. Pasture (Cammick) ran five furlongs in 1.3, the last three in 37 4-ss. Tihis was a smart effort.
On the Tan. Tybalt (Gilchrist) covered a round in 1.59 3-5, the last half mile in 55 l-ss. Valmint (Ryan) was sent over a similar distance, the last six furlongs taking 1.28 3-5. He was never doing his best at any stage. Glen Abb covered a round in 1.56 3-5, Royal Albb (Markwick) taking the same time.
Ivy Willonyx (McGill) covered the last half mile of her work on the sand in 54 3-sa. Over Hurdles. Rarotonga (Turner) was schooled over a couple of hurdles, but balked at the last, losing his jockey. However, on being re-mounted, he cleared it well.

JACK TAR'S BOLE.
TRIALS AT TAKANINI
The inside grass track, on which the poles were 10ft out, was open for fast work at Takanini this morning, but there was not a great deal doing. Jack Tar (Coker) was responsible for a good effort over a mile which he completed in 1.44, after running the first half mile in 51 l-ss, and the first five furlongs in 1.4. King Louis (Beguley) was half a length in front of Tcllsom (Pell) at the conclusion of a smartly-run half mile which took 50s. King Louis has improved since racing at Avondale. Dauber (Kingi) and Hunting Bee (Green) were practically on terms at the end of seven furlongs in 1.31 3-5, after covering the first half mile in 50 4-58. Hunting Bee worked very impressively over the concluding stages. Kraal (McTavisli) was going comfortably alongside Foxola (Logan} at the finish of half a mile in 51 3-ss. Maxam (McTavisli) ran five furlongs in 1.5, time upon which she could have improved.
