CABBAGE PRICES' HIGHER. CAULIFLOWERS SELL WELL. PEAR DEMAND CONTINUES. Large quantities of cauliflower and cabbage were eold at the Auckland auction markets to-day and prices were much •higher on account of the colder weather. Carrots aid parsnips are in heavy supply, the former selling at low prices. Late rates were maintained for a good offering of onione. High pricee are being given for choice quality peas and beans, which are still in heavy supply. The demand for dessert pears remains good and the supply is email. Average values for tomatoes fell to-day, there being a large quantity on the market. Te Kauwhata grapes are selling well, but there is only a fair inquiry for hothouse lines. Quinces are being inquired for. Fruit. Prices are:.—Apples: Cox's Orange, 4/ to 5/6 per case; Delicious, 3/ to 4/6; Jonathan, 3/ to 5/; cookers, 2/ to 3/. Pears: B. Bosc., 7/ to 12/ per case; P. Barry. 6/6 to 9/; Winter Coles, 13/ to 19/. Tomatoes: Outdoor, extra choice, 6/ to 8/ per case; others, 3/ to 5/. Lemons: 6/6 to 15/6 per case, according to grade and count. Bananas: Ripe, 17/3 to 28/ per case. Grapee: TeKauwhata, 10/ to 13/ per case; hothouse, Hamburg. 6d to 9d per lb; Coleman, extra choice, 1/8 to 2/; otheiie, lid to 1/6. Peaches: Golden Queen, 8/ to IC/9 per case; others. 6/ to 7/6. Cape gooseberries: 7d to 8d per lb. Passion fruit: 6/ to 11/ per ease. Persimmons: 6/ to 7/ per case. Quinces: Bushels, 10/ to 13/ per case; three-quarter cases, 6/ to 8/. Vegetables. Poultry. At to-day'e auctions ihe supply of poultry was heavy and the demand was just fair. The pricee paid remained unaltered. Selling rates were as follow:—Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime 5/ to 6/ each, not prime 2/ to 3/; light breeds, prime 2/3 to 3/6, not prime 1/ up. Fat hene: Heavy breeds, 2/9 to 3/9; light breeds. 1/6 to 2/. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best 5/ to 11, smaller 2/ up. Drakes: Young, prime 2/ to 3/, smaller 1/fl up. Butter, Egfs, Flowers. Eggs.—Hen: First grade. 2/7% dozen; B grade, 2/4%: C grade, 1/10%. Duck: First grade, 2 '5Mt; B grade, 2/3%; C grade, 1/10%. There wee a rise yesterday of 2d per dozen in C grade hen and duck Farmer*' Butter.—l/ 2to 1/4% per lb. j Cut flowers were in short supply. The demand was keen and practically all varieties of best quajity realised <?ood prices.
