Having regard to all the circumstance*, would it not lie a fine thing if a 4>velection could be avoided? Mr. SavajfC. Under these circumstances, it would be a. fitting compliment to his achievements if anything .-ujrgestinjr party strife could I>o avoided in hie old electorate at the present time. The Labour party might be urged to produce the man, who, in its opinion, would be best qualified to carry in the House a worthy reminder of iU lamented leader; and all other parties might be invited to accept tie |«vition and let it go at that. After all. the pressing need of this country at the moment L* for men of outstanding quality, and that factor should, for the time being, outweigh purely party consideration*.
