EXTENSIVE DAMAGE CAUSED,

Two small lires occurred in Auckland late on Saturday. Painters burning paint oft* a two-storeyed house occupied by Mr. K. McLean, at 13, Wood Street, Poiwoiihy. paused a bedroom on the top floor, rooJin-r and weatherboards to catch lire shortly before four o'clock in the afternoon. The outbreak was attended by engines from the Central station and the Western Districts station.

Engine* from Kemuera and Great South Koad attended a fire in an attached washhoiiee and the wall and ceiling of a bedroom of a residence owned end occupied by Mr. F. Hein, at 32, Wheturangi Road*, One Tree Hill. The fire occurred shortly before 10 p.m. and caused extensive daman?. The hotiee and its contents are insured with the New Zealand Insurance Company for £1430. *
