TIMARU CELEBRATIONS.

TIMARU. Sunday.

The Timaru Centennial celebration*, which will extend over a week, were commenced to-day with a thanksgiving service, at which reference was made to the death of the Prime Minister by the principal speaker, the Rev. F. Wilkinson. The week's programme will include the opening of a Centennial memorial in the form of a women's community centre, the entertainment of pioneers, massed displays by schoolchildren, and the re-enactment of the landing of pioneers at Caroline Bay.
