GOING OVERSEAS.
SOUTHERN M.P. ENLISTS. TO SERVE WITH EXGIXEERS. (By Tefcemph.—Press Aasotiatlon.) BLENHEIM, thk day. Mr. E. P. Meachen, M.P. for Marlborougli, who offered himself for overeeae service with the Xew Zealand Field Engineere, hae been advieed that he is required to enter camp at Burnham next month. It ie expected that he will leave Xew Zealand with the first reinforcement for the Engineers Company, sailing with the third echelon.
Mr. Meachen hae ha« long and varied experience in building conetruction work in many ports of New Zealand. Before
Wβ election to Parliament in 1935 he was engaged in bridge building and the installation of mining equipment. Since the election he has fceen acting as a co-opted member with the Minister of Public Work*.
In the Great War Mr. Meachen held non-commissioned rank with the Field Engineers. He left with the Fourth Reinforcement* in 1915 and served at GalHpoli and in France, concluding with the Army of Occupation in Germany. Hβ returned to Xew Zealand in 1919.
