The outbreak of war created a widespread desire anions the public lor infonmation in connection with first aid, and the strength of the brigade had now reached 6555, being an increase of 1382 on the previous year, the commissioner etated. Forty-seven new divisions have ibeen registered throughout the Dominion, extending from the Bay of Islands in the north, to Stewart Island ( in the south. The total nunvber of services performed by momiKM-s last year was 110.998, including Hist aid. rendered, transport of sick and injured, hospital attendances and cases nursed privately l>y members of nursing divisions. First aid treatment was jriven by members on duty at sports grounds in :si>,.MK> cases, while 54.272 cases were treated by members on other occasions.
