PRICE OF EGGS.
PROTEST BY COMMITTEE. The Auckland Egg Marketing Committee, representing poultry fanner* in the Auckland province, lias protested to tho Government concerning the refusal of the Price Investigation tribunal to grant increase* in egg prices. The telegrams were addressed to the deputy - Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraeer, the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nasli, and the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. In a statement the committee said that supplies of eggs in Auckland were not nearly sufficient to satisfy the demand and the tribunal's decision had created chaos on tho Auckland market. It w.is pointed out th»t the tribunal hid refused last week to allow the committee to raise C-grade eggs 2d a dozen, although the price at Wellington was 4Jd a dozen higher than Auckland in that grade. The market could only be conducted satisfactorily on a eupply and demand basis as in the past, continued the statement. The suggestion was made th.it the local branch of the Internal Marketing Department should fix prices in Auckland in conjunction with the committee. The new season's hatching and production would be seriously affected if the position was not rectified. The committee also sent a telegram of protest to the Price Investigation Tribunal.
