There were some smart efforts at Ellerslie this morning, the best those of Llandaff and Aero King over four furlongs, .Xightbeam and- Hunter's Rose over five, Valmint and Kelly over seven, and Sigurd over a round. Xo. 1 grass track was used, and the going was excellent.

Beeswing (Kerr) was sent six furlongs the last halt-mile taking 51 3-ss, Tybalt (Speck J occupying 1.22 tor the same distance. British Talent (Gammick) was allotted five furlongs, the laat half-mile in 52 2-se. Aero King (Tremain) beat Silver Stick (Farrell) at the end of half a mile in .48 l-Ss/ after, covering the first furlong in 12s. This was a particularly good effort; Master Warden (Gemmell) was sent a round, the last half-mile in 55 2-ss. Bide-a-wee (Kerr) i tM- allotted a similar task, the final six furlong* taking 1.24. Wheaua (Fearn) and Loyal Grant (Gilehrist) finished on terms at the end of five furlong* in 1.5 1-5. Golden Bonnet (Farrell) and Xightbeam (Ryan), after running then? first two furlongs in 23 4-Ss, completed five in 12 2-5, Nightbeam being two lengths in front at the end. Xightbeam is galloping well Beverley (Murray) and Elise (Dowrick) covered a similar distance in 15 4-5, the last half-mile in 50s. There was nothing between them at the end. Racecamp (Brown) 5. w** doing better than Sunny Downs (Gollop) and Mio Generate (Day) over the concluding stages of seven furlongs in 1.32 1-5, the first half in 52 l-ss, and' the fivie in I.e. -Hacecamp was always doing hi*work well," and j>hotild lack little on the score of condition for racing at Pukekohe. Tosh (Gollop) wae clear of Sit Tommy (Winder) and Vitement (Hain) at the end of half a mile in 51 2-ss, the initial three furlongs taking 36 4-ss. Tosh is bearing a healthy appearance, and, with •*firm track at Pukekohe, he will have to be conceded prpapect* in the open sprint. Respectful and a colt by Tinokba (Long) got to the end of half a mile in JBe., /: ': - A smart effort over fire furlongs, and the best of the morning over, the distance, was credited to Mid Fratollo (Eneor), who accounted for Susan (Hain) in 1.5, their first half in 51 l-ss. Mio Fratollo worked pleasingly, and is to have hie next outing at Tanranga, where Ngawnri and Diversity, other member* of A. C.Jone*' string, Will also do their next racing. Runanga (Ensor) was shading Flaehing Spear (Taylor) with Raceline (Gollop) several length* away, at the completion of a roflnd in 2J Kf," five furlong* in 1.8, and: six in 1.22. Runanga is making steady progresa and may make early amend* for recent disappointment*. Gav Rosette (the two-year-old Whirlwind —Diversion filly). Commemoration (Hain) and Ro*e> Yaal were associated over three furlong* in-37*.
