CONDITION OF HIGHWAYS.
Although the longest, the beet route to Wellington is still via Napier, states the Automobile Association (Auckland). The highways to TaumaTunui and New Plymouth are closed. Alternative roads to Wellington are through Tiraur and National Park to Taihape, or Tirau, National Park fo Raetihi and Wanganui.
