PEACE AIMS.

PACIFIC PROBLEMS.

CHRISTIANITY'S SOLUTION.

CONFERENCE 11* HONOLULU.

With the object of contacting people interested in problems which are confronting Pacific peoples in their desire for peace in the Pacific, Mr. Edgar L. French. <n' Melbourne, who represents the Christian Co-operative Fellowship, arrived in Auckland from Australia this morning.

The Christian Co-operative Fellowship believes that the Pacific peoples can give a lead to the rest of the world in peaceful development, and while here he will make personal explanations to those who would pioneer a. Pacific conference. At a conference to be held in Honolulu in 1941 the aim will be to combine cooperative economy, peace movements and Christian morality so as to provide a workable basis towards peace in the Pacific.

It ie felt, Mr. French explained, that the Christian religion provides the end which is sought and that co-operative economics provides the means. The main object of Mr. French's visit to NewZealand will be to organise for the conference. At the conference there will be delegates from China. Japan. India. Dutch Kast Indies. Philippine IMa-ul*. United States of America, Canada. Xow Zealand and Australia, all countries having at present groups already organised in tin- aims of the Fellowship. "The Pacific peoples are throwing oiT their dependence on Europe, and are recognising their own distinct responsibilities and rich possibilities. The resurgence of life in the Orient is effecting a reiiuaisance." said Mr. French. ''Kurupc has the 'war habit. . And there is a conviction that the Pacific peoples are called to lead in creative, peaceful development."
