PEDESTRIAN'S DEATH.
VERDICT AT INQUEST.
A verißct of accidental death wae returned by the coroner. Mr. P. K. Hunt, ■S.M., at the inquest held to-day touching, the death of Daniel James Mogford, aged 77. The evidence showed that at 9.20 p.m. on January 7 Mogford wae. walking on itihe footpath in Wellesley Street and that lie commenced to cross the intersection of JMhert Street when he stepped in front of a taxi driven by Maxwell Jainee McCarthy, which was approaching the h»teneectibn from the south along Albert Street. Mogford was knocked down and taken to hospital with injuries which ended fatally at 2.30 a.m. the following day- i. t Mr. }|. J. Goldetine represented the driver of the taxi at the inquest.
