FORTY GERMAN SHIPS.

Reported To Be Assembled

North Of Finland.

RUMOURS OF NAVAL ACTION.

(Received noon.) LONDON, February 27. Forty German vessels, reported to be accompanied by submarines, are assembled between Murmansk and Petsamo, says a Finnish communique from Helsinki.

It is reported irom Vardo, on the Arctic coast of Norway, that Allied warships sank two German vessels in the Arctic near the Russo-Finnish border.

British naval authorities regard the Yardo report as an attempt by Germany to obtain information whether British naval ships are in that vicinity. The Admiralty does not intend to satisfy their curiosity.
