NATIVE LAND COURT.
TRIBUTE TO CHIEF JUDGE.

THAMES, Tuesday.
Congratulations were tendered to the Chief Justice of the Native Land Court, Mr. C. E. McCormick, by the legal fraternity of Thames to-day, when he presided at at sitting of the Court for the first time since being elevated to the position of Chief Justice.
On behalf of the Thames Bar, Mr. H. F. Purnell congratulated his Honor .and expressed appreciation of the man-: ner in which he had always helped and aided the members practising in the local court. Messrs. C. H. Poulgrain, £. B. Clendon and A. G. Bryan spoke in similar strain.
Returning thanks, the Chief Justice! said he was deeply grateful for the congratulatory expressions. He could hot deny that he heartily appreciated having reached the highest office of the native judiciary. If he had been of any help to members of the local Bar he was happy to have given such service.
