A GREAT TRAVELLER
Although Logan Derby did not get a place in the grand final of the InterDominion Championship* at Perth, he recorded the faateet time, and halved the price of £2000 with the winner, Grand Mogul, as he gained most points at the carnival. He was declared grand champion.
Logan Derby's efforts at the meeting resulted in a first, second and a third in the qualifying events, and 4ie secured £223 for recording the fastest time in each contest. Iα the Grand Final, he galloped for half a lap before he settled to his work, and then recorded fastest time, -erhieh gained him three points and assured him of the championship.
Logan Derby's winnings at the carnival were £1525 and a eoM cup. He received £200 for winning a heat, £75 for his second, £25 for bis third, £225 for recording fastest times in three qualifying events, and £1000, a gold cud and & men for gaining most pomte and being grand champion.
Bought for 60 guineas when a three-year-old, Logan Derby has travelled 32,000 miles, has won races in Tasmania (where he was bred and is owned), West Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and New Zealand. His total stake earnings are now over £9000.
