LONG SERVICE ENDING.

WELLINGTON, Tuesday.

After 43 years' service in the police force Superintendent F. l>. Lewin, who has been stationed at Wellington for the past two years, will retire on March 19. He joined the force as a constable at Christchurch in J897 and plater served at Timaru, Amberley, Wellington, Gore, Dunedin, Christchurch' and Auckland. Mr. Lewin was in Auckland from February, 1926, to December, 1927, when he was transferred to the charge of the Nelson and Marlborough districts as inspector. He became superintendent in Wellington in J938. ;/
