PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE PLAN.

Auckland will see Army teams in action this season in Eugby, League, Soccer and hockey senior grades. They will wear jerseys of red, white and blue, white shorts, and black stockings with white lope. Provision of the neceeeary equipment for military outdoor sports was discussed in detail yesterday at a meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee's sub-committee. The chairman, Sir. W. R. Fee, stated that an expenditure of £500 had been set aside, and a list of requirements had been drawn up in collaboration with Captain T. P. Laffey.

Thie included 70 jeree.ys for the representative sides entered in city competitions, 154 jerseys to be used in regular

inter-unit contests at the Papakura camp, 224 pairs of football boots, 224 pairs of stockings, footballs, hockey equipment, basketballs and standards, medicine balls, a boxing ring and boxing gloves.

An offer to provide 100 pairs of football boote and to provide posts and cross bars for the grounds had been made by Mr. H. J. Butcher, said the chairman, while 30 jerseys bad already been given anonymously.

A sub-committee was eet up to submit an estimate, and at the eame time an eetimate will be made of the total sum needed for winter sports requirements. Mr. Fee intimated to the subcommittee -that funds would be forthcoming if the eetimate exceeded £500.

The boxing ring«will cost about £150, according to an announcement bg Mr. George Bush. Captain Laffey said it had been suggested that when the Y.M.C.A. vacates its marquees to occupy its new building, these might be left in camp to be ueed when boxing competitions are held.

The chairman reminded members that the sub-committee must not canvass for assistance in the ordinary way, a* the provincial body was the proper authority on that side, but he hinted that gifts might be available.
