SCHOOL GROUNDS WORK. Reference to complaints made bj members of the Auckland Education Board at la>t meetinjr to the condition of the around* of Otorohanga and Hamilton East schools wa? made in a letter received by the board to-day from the Public Works Department. T'le member* concerned had criticised the way in which the work «a< being carried out. The Department said that the fact* were not as Mated, and gave details of the job* concerned. The delav at Hamilton F.a-t had been caused by the weather and the fact that the con-ractor had been doing work at Papakura ca in p. Tlie chairman. Mr. W. .T. Campbell, said that he had \ ii-ited the Hamilton Ea«=t School, and could say that it w» an excellent job. Mr. F. A. Snell said that his objection was to the delay. Mr. W. I. Bowyer stated the position at Otorohanga. and it was ajrreed t" obtain written reports to lie incorporated in reply to the Department.
