Fighters Who Shot Down Nazi Raiding Bomber. OFF NORTHUMBERLAND COAST (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON", February 20. Members of the Fighter Command squadron who shot down a Hcinkel bomber off Northumberland on February 3 are liable to pay salvage and Cuitoms charges on the wreckage washed ashore from the Heinkel. However, the authorities are not applying the law. A piece of metal from the wreckage has been beaten into a shield and engraved with the squadron's crest for presentation to the R.A.F. mess.
