BRISBANE, February 13. Gladness has been brought to the hearts of womenfolk living at Mount lea. through the gesture of a woman living more than 10,000 miles away. While on a visit to Australia last year, Mrs. D. P. Mitchell, wife of a London mining director, spent several weeks at Mount Isa, and was impressed by the way in which her sex faced the hardships of life in that distant mining centre. As a means of brightening their lot, she provided sufficient money to furnish and equip clubrooms which have now been opened and bear the name of the generous 'benefactor. |
