PRICE OF SUGAR.

EFFECT OF RESTRICTIONS. MASTER GROCERS' PLAINS'. (By TelegTij.li.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. Reference to the enforcement regulation forbidding an increase in the price of sugar, was made in the report submitted to the annual convention of the New Zealand Master Grocers' Federation, and it was declared that it must spell bankruptcy for the trade. The secretary, it was added, was told by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, that no increase in price would be allowed, but the Prime Tribunal proposed investigating the grocery trade to ascertain whether a higher price was justified. The investigation was proceeding, and Che tribunal, it was understood, was to have submitted its report to the Minister by the end of January, when the question of retail nrices would be further considered.
